Wrong focus... wrong priorities..
You'd think that Governments would consider the 3 most important departments to be: Education , Health and Security !
Why these?
Why Education? To-days youth are to-morrow's leaders and the future of any country. They need to be well prepared to cope for their lives and to look after their previous generation.
Why Health? Simple:A healthy population creates wealth.
Why Security? Simple: The population must be able to feel and actually BE secure. It should be able to concentrate on productive issues and not have to worry about their family, their security, look over their shoulders... Rapists, thieves, crooks, corrupt practitioners, murderers should be behind solid bars and walls and re-educated.
It stands to reason therefore that educators, health practitioners and the police should be the BEST paid government employees. Are they? You have to be kidding...
They are the worst paid!
And governments know this! They send their kids to private schools, demand the best doctors and are monitored regularly at state expense and, you guessed it, are of course protected 24 hours a day!
The most useless ones in society are the best paid: Politicians, be they Ministers or Member of Parliament!
Especially...? Finance of course, you need cash and even more cash! Then there is Foreign Affairs (so the SOBS can travel, stay in great hotels and fill up their bellies and maybe have some nice sex in between) at our expense. And then of course there is Defence. This really lines up pockets. I doubt that there exists a more corrupt industry.
When the Berlin wall fell, this industry fell too and ... were they worried! You bet! One cannot just make arms without trying and using these... What better way than a war? Good for business. So start a war! Find a theme and ... go for it! Lie and lie in the process, who cares? The armament industry wheels must turn again. "Star War" did not get off the ground (too far fetched?) So closer to home then... let Ossama off the hook and voilà, war on terrorism, Irak, Afghanistan plus some side issues (Dafur and co).
All these are in it for the proverbial finger in the pie? That small 4 letter word: Cash! These are the three most important departments that governments throughout the world concentrate on.
Poverty? Global warming? Good for some nice get togethers... but quite frankly... irrelevant (judging by their focus...)
