It takes courage…. great courage…

To be born on this earth …
To live on this earth …
To die. Yes, it even takes great courage to die!

Some people think that suicide is an act of cowardice.
Others believe that euthanasia is!
Don't you believe any of it.

Dying is so difficult that we humans have gone all out of our way to delay it; yea we even try at all cost to avoid it!

So, what is all this about?

The belief to-day is that life is to be enjoyed as opposed to be experienced or worse, to be suffered. Enjoy life if you so wish, but let this enjoyment never be at the expense of others.

None escapes suffering. The type of suffering does. Suffering comes in two forms: Mental or physical.

The need of ownership creates mental suffering. Those who have all the trimmings of modern life experience mental suffering. They suffer because they are scared of losing what they own.
Those who have little or nothing, suffer because of their lack of it. The need of ownership is, as Buddha says, never satisfied…

Mental suffering is also caused by emotions such as seeing a loved one suffer or losing the loved one through death.

Physical suffering? Physical pain is created by an imbalance in the body. One is not aware of that tiny little toe until it hurts. When it does, the whole body aches and suffers.

Which is worse? Mental of physical suffering?

Mental suffering can be alleviated by following the second commandment: Do unto others... and by listening to one's Inner Voice.

Physical suffering can only be alleviated by medication. I respect, admire and honour those that suffer physically and still manage to smile and show compassion for others !
