The majority hardly EVER rules...

No government in the world can deny this!
Check for yourself...
Majority means 50% of the Voters + 1. Agree.
However I have never heard of any voting where 100% of voters turned up.
Here is an interesting formula...
x = total numbers of voters or 100%
y = % or voters who go to voting stations and actually vote (including spoiled papers)

Then, to have a majority (i.e. 50% + 1 vote) the following equation must be true.

x divided by y must be greater or equal to (y+1)

Assume now a total 80% turnout, then
50%/80% = 62.5% +1 in other words to have a majority rule in the country, the party who wins the election must win 62.5% of the votes + 1 vote. Then and then only can it claim to represent the majority.

Interesting is that if the turnout at the booth is less than 70%, it is impossible for a winning party to represent the majority.

Conclusion?

1) Government should make voting compulsory (like in Belgium)
2) Most governments (if not all!!) represent the minority.

And you thought you lived in a government by the people, for the people...
